Mandela’s Victorians

May 11, 2018 | Year 5

This term in Mandela, we have been learning about The Victorians. In particular, the lives of the poor in Victorian London, which we have explored through Berlie Doherty’s excellent novel Street Child, using a broad range of speaking, listening, reading and writing activities. We will also be going on a trip to the Ragged School in East London to discover more about what school life was like for Victorian boys and girls.

In Science, we have been studying Earth and Space where we have discovered lots of exciting facts about our solar system and how it works.

In PE, we have been improving our skills in invasion games and we are just starting to learn how to play rounders! We will also shortly be starting our preparation for sports day!
