This half term Nursery have listened to a range of stories about minibeasts, starting with The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which they loved. They have made minibeasts with playdough, studied insect models at the small world tray and explored real creatures outside. Particularly popular were the caterpillar cupcakes they made with Miss Evelyn.
They have also been focusing on their phonics skills – going on a listening walk outside, exploring the sounds they can make with percussion instruments, their voices and their bodies.
Now the weather is warmer, Nursery have been developing their physical motor skills outside. They are able to fill and pour from bottles with increasing control as they make petal potions. They exercised their muscles sweeping down afterwards. They have also enjoyed using the large wooden blocks to build structures, including a cupcake castle. Lucas Vale Nursery may be challenging the Great British Bake Off soon!
