Admissions

Apply for your place early in the year to avoid disappointment.

Reception – Year 6

In order to apply for a place for your child at Lucas Vale Primary School (Reception and above) you must first contact the London Borough of Lewisham’s School Admissions Department on 020 8314 8282 or follow this link to the Lewisham Admissions page.

Apply for your place early in the year to avoid disappointment.

Places will be offered in the following priority:

  • Children in Public Care – a looked-after child
  • A child or their family member who may have medical or social needs
  • A sibling who currently attends Lucas Vale Primary
  • Children living closest to the school

Once you have submitted your application, Lewisham Admissions will contact you to advise you of the outcome. If you have been assigned a place at Lucas Vale Primary School we will contact you with a date and time for either a home visit (Reception applicants) or a meeting with our Head of School and Inclusion Officer (Years 1 and above) at which point all relevant documentation must be produced.

Nursery

For the Nursery you can apply directly through the school; application forms are available at the school office and once the application is submitted your child will then be placed on our waiting list until a place becomes available. The following criteria are followed:

  • Children in Public Care – a looked-after child
  • A child or their family member who may have medical or social needs
  • Age – any child over 4 will be given priority over 3 year olds
  • Lewisham residents

We have two intakes per academic year, a September intake and a January intake. Your child will have 3-5 terms in Nursery depending on which month their birthday falls in. However we also do accept mid-year applicaions but it does depend on your child’s age.

From September 2017, we will be providing the government entitlement of either 15 or 30 hours per week. To check if you are entitled to 30 hours childcare, please visit www.gov.uk

For those children entitled to 15 hours, we currently offer two nursery session times:

Nursery AM 8.45 am – 11.45 am OR

Nursery PM 12.15 pm – 3.15 pm

Children entitled to 30 hours will attend from either:

9.00 am – 3.00 pm with no additional costs OR

8.45 am – 3.15 pm which does incur an additional cost

For both, you will need to bring a packed lunch.

We recommend that you put your child’s name on the waiting list when they are age 2. All you need to do is fill out a basic applicaiton form which you can get from the school office (no proofs will be required until a place is offered).

For both school and nursery places we will ask for a copy of your child’s long birth certificate and proof of address (i.e. council tax bill or tenancy agreement).
