A look at all those people who work on behalf of our children.
Senior Management Team
A look at all those people who work on behalf of our children.
I have recently joined the Lucas Vale team but have worked in Lewisham schools for ten years and have been a teacher for sixteen years. The children here are amazing! They love to learn and they love their school community.
I believe children learn best when they are given a range of exciting experiences that enable them to explore the kind of learner they are and not spoon-fed tasks and activities that stops learning from being fun.
I’m excited to be a part of all that Lucas Vale stands for and look forward to all that lies ahead.
I am very proud to be the Executive Headteacher at the GGLV federation. We have two very special schools that we all enjoy working in. I joined the Federation in September 2016 and I have loved every minute of it. The children at Grinling Gibbons and Lucas Vale are kind, caring and so very friendly. They are fantastic learners. Our parents really contribute to the success of the schools and take pride in being part of the School Community. All our staff are here for one reason only- the Children! They all work hard to ensure our children get the best possible education. We believe everyone can succeed.
We also work in partnership with my other federation: Fairlawn and Haseltine primary schools and our teaching school, ETAL.
If you are a prospective parent, please come on one of our fortnightly tours and see our schools in action. The Heads will show you around and you will see the learners and their books. If there is something you need and you can’t find it on our website, please do call us and we will do our best to answer any questions.
At the Grinling Gibbons and Lucas Vale Federation there is a really high level of commitment and dedication at all levels towards the protection and learning of the children. I feel honoured to be a part of such a fantastic team of professionals, and a part of a Senior Leadership Team that is transparent, hardworking and led with unwavering Leadership.
The staff are brilliant role models for our pupils and I often find myself being inspired by the learning that takes place in the schools. The Governors are supportive and dedicated to improving the community which they represent by investing in the development of each and every child.
The Federation is truly about creating a harmonious community in the heart of Deptford.
I have been working at Lucas Vale as one of the Reception Class Teachers since September, although it feels longer. With my range of experience in different Early Years settings, I can honestly say that this is a very special school and a welcoming place, for the children and parents alike.
I am proud to work at Lucas Vale, as it is a truly amazing school. The children are happy, polite, engaging and excited by learning. Their passion is so infectious!
As I work in Early Years, I am truly committed to ensuring every child is able to achieve their best. I work hard to create an environment that supports, extends and engages the learning of every child. I hope by doing this the children leave Reception inspired by learning and are happy active participants in their learning. I am passionate about every child being able to access the curriculum and have ventured onto my own learning journey with Makaton to facilitate this.
I have worked at Lucas Vale Primary since September 2011 and I am proud to have been on such an amazing journey over the past 6 years. I have extensive experience working in Early Years and I enjoy enabling my pupils to become active and independent learners while fostering their early development.
I find teaching extremely rewarding and fulfilling. I feel particularly inspired by learning in the early years as this is a play-based environment where pupils are encouraged to express themselves through the use of different media and using both the indoor and outdoor environment. Pupils in this stage of learning show tremendous progression as they are assessed in 7 areas of learning working towards achieving their early learning goals at the end of Reception year.
I find teaching at Lucas Vale enjoyable and I look forward to continuing on my journey at this outstanding school.
I have been teaching for 5 years now and despite being new to Lucas Vale as a teacher, I am not new to the wonderful opportunities that it has and still is providing in education. I attended Lucas Vale as a child myself and am delighted to be part of the school that contributed so greatly to my childhood.
I started off my career in teaching in EYFS because I feel that the foundation of a child’s education is paramount to their development and plays an integral role in their future. I have decided to take my journey on to year 1 as I wanted to see what “life after early years” looked like with the intentions of nurturing their ability through a creative curriculum.
I greatly enjoy teaching, as no two children are the same and children continue to demonstrate their curiosity day to day. I believe children should be encouraged to investigate the world around them and never stop asking questions. I hope that as a teacher I will be able to guide my children to build resilience and develop greater independence, ready for the year ahead.
My name is Sifa Huseyin and I am a Year 1 teacher in Bolt class. I have worked at Lucas Vale Primary School since 2011. I started working in the Nursery, and then moved to Reception, followed by Year 2 and now Year 1.
I enjoy working here because we have such lovely children and families as well as fantastic, hard working and dedicated members of staff. The school is like a big family and we all care for one another, helping each other wherever we can.
I hope to inspire the children to reach their full potential and develop a love of learning through an exciting and creative curriculum.
I am new to Lucas Vale as I started in September 2017. I am very glad to be part of such a creative and successful school community. I have already been fortunate enough to meet lots of wonderful children who love to learn, not least in my fantastic class, and I can’t wait to get to know you all even better.
As a Year 1 teacher, I am privileged to be able to guide the children through their first year in Key Stage 1. I believe in providing holistic, child-centred education that ensures all of the children feel confident in themselves and excited about their learning. I am sure that all the children in Year 1 will try hard in their learning and make lots of friends this year.
As Geography lead, I encourage the children to be curious about the world around them and celebrate the diversity in our community. With so much to discover and explore, I hope we will have some learning adventures this year!
I became interested in teaching when my daughter was very little. I taught her to read using the Peter and Jane reading books hence by the time she started nursery she could read, write and spell her name. This inspired me to become a teacher.
I gained my degree in Primary education and Early Years at Roehampton University in 2005 and started teaching straight after.
I believe that teaching is like a journey and on this journey there are many different vehicles. Some are going fast and some are going slowly. It’s the same with learning. Some children will speed ahead while others will crawl but at the end the destination is all the same. It’s not how we get there but that we get there. Therefore I try my best to make teaching as enjoyable as possible for children so that it’s a memorable experience that will inspire them to learn and keep on learning.
Further I enjoy teaching because I find it delightful when I see children actually learning and putting into practise what they have learnt. Teaching at Lucas Vale has been an interesting journey for me, one that I am still finding pleasure in.
My journey in the federation began 10 years ago at Grinling Gibbons where I was initially employed as a TA. During my time there I learnt valuable lessons which laid the firm foundation that I am standing on today. When I came to Lucas Vale in 2013, I loved seeing the love and care the children had for one another and the energy and commitment of the staff to all of the children.
Having worked in both Key Stage one and two, I have learnt so much about progression and the tools needed to excite the children into learning for pleasure. Key to progression is getting to know the children as individuals so that the approach to learning is personalised. I work hard to make my classroom a hub of joy and wonder by capturing every child’s mind with the mysteries and wonders of the world.
Watching my own children progress as babies to young people inspired me to want to become a teacher. I loved seeing the many light bulb moments in them and now in the children I work with. Seeing them grow and mature makes me proud every single day. All children are diamonds in my eyes and I will never stop ‘shining’ them until they have their own sparkle.
Teaching has always been a passion of mine. I began my teaching journey when I was sixteen, teaching children to swim back in Australia. This inspired me to become a classroom teacher. I gained a degree in Primary education in Australia and moved to London in 2016 to further my teaching career and face new challenges.
Stepping into a new role at Lucas Vale, I have learned that the school is an outstanding and happy place for children to learn and develop their skills. I enjoy the hard work and dedication that is shown by both students and staff at LV. I believe that dedication and inspiration are the key factors to a great education. The children I work with challenge me and inspire me every day. I find great joy in seeing these children use their skills they have learned within the classroom in their day to day life.
I find teaching at Lucas Vale extremely rewarding and fulfilling and I look forward to continuing my journey at this wonderful school.
I am proud to work in Lucas Vale since January 2017 and feel excited to come to school every day to teach and learn with the children. The students in this school love learning and show enthusiasm every day.
As a Year 3 teacher, I feel lucky to support my students in settling in Key Stage 2 smoothly and ensure they are learning in a secure and fun environment. We always strive for the best in our class!
As a R.E. lead, I am glad to share ideas and knowledge about all the unique beliefs that exist in our community. I also think that R.E. gives everyone the opportunity to show respect and tolerance to others no matter what the differences are.
My name is Jahkera Haynes and I am the class teacher for Rosen class as well as the Year 3 team lead. I also lead History across the school which is a subject that I thoroughly enjoy teaching as well as learning more about.
I have been at Lucas Vale for 5 years now and can say that I have learnt more and more every year. It is a pleasure to work in such a diverse school, set in a rich and strong community where the teachers, parents and children can all learn from each other.
I am looking forward to the year ahead and am extremely passionate about children not only achieving their best academically but also learning the life skills that will enable them to be the best person they can be.
I have worked at Lucas Vale since the start of January 2018. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by many friendly staff, who are dedicated and hardworking. Their consistent objective to provide the best education to all students was at the forefront of their morale.
As a teacher within the year 4 classroom, I encourage my students to challenge themselves in all domains of their learning. I encourage my students to ‘have a go’ in their learning and to adopt a growth mind-set. I believe all students are capable of reaching educational outcomes, and this is at the forefront of my philosophy. Through this, students will be able to manage their own learning, and reach their full potential as individuals.
I have worked at Lucas since September 2015 and am excited every day to come to school and learn with the children. I enjoy working here because the children are so enthusiastic and interested in their learning.
It is a pleasure coming to school to work and learn alongside such a happy caring community of staff, carers and learners. Everyone is enthusiastic and supportive with the aim of supporting and nurturing all children to become confident, independent learners.
As literacy lead, I think reading is such an important skill that children require to access all areas of the curriculum. I am always encouraging children to read for pleasure in their own time as well as at school.
I joined Lucas Vale in January 2018. The first impression I gained of the school was the children’s love of learning. I knew from that moment that this was the school for me. I am proud to say that I am now a member of the hardworking and dedicated staff at Lucas Vale.
Prior to joining Lucas Vale, I was teaching in the United Arab Emirates. It was here that I learnt no matter the barrier, every child is capable of learning and making progress. I enjoy teaching children how to become independent learners and watching them progress naturally. Within my classroom I encourage children to become problem solvers, mistake makers and open minded learners.
I look forward to building positive relationships with the school community and giving the next generation the best possible education they could receive.
I have worked at Lucas Vale since September 2017 and am excited every day to come to school and learn with the children. I enjoy working here because
As a Year 5 teacher, I am working hard with the pupils to ensure that they are prepared and ready for their SATs year in 2018-19
I am also very pleased to be leading on PE and Sport, as I believe that both, if done regularly, are extremely important in giving pupils the right mindset to take them on their journey through life.
My name is Juliet Uzor and I am a Year 6 teacher and the Maths Subject lead. When I first started here, I taught in lower Key Stage 2, but for the past 4 years I have been teaching in Upper Key Stage 2. It has been indeed rewarding helping the children learn and grow into independent and confident learners over the years, especially the all-important transition into secondary school.
I am glad to be part of the Lucas Vale community and I look forward to continuously sharing my skills and expertise as a Maths leader across the school.
I joined the Lucas Vale team as an Art Specialist tutor in 2014 and since then, there has not been a day with a dull moment.
Some children come to my class with pre-conceived notions that being artistic is something you are born with. Which in my opinion is true. The human mind is extremely creative and we can find the evidence throughout human history. I believe, that creativity is instilled within each of us, it is locked into deepest channels of our inner being. And I love to teach the children how to unlock those hidden creative geniuses.
I am passionate about art and in its education. My goal is that every child who comes to my class leaves with a puzzle, where she or he continues growing and building a whole piece of their own existence and knowledge, finding their way through enjoyment, peace and passion. Art is not a gift. Art is not for the few. Art is within us and for everyone.
I’ve been a Teaching Assistant at Lucas Vale for 7 years, I run the Football after school clubs and Lucas Vale School’s Football Team. I love sport and helping the children develop sporting skills.
Putting smiles on the children at Lucas Vale is hugely important to me, making school a fun experience is key to helping children enjoy school and to reach their potential.
I shall be taking up a new position as Sports Coach at Lucas Vale. I’m going to make my mission to improve the sporting abilities of all the children and introducing a variety of different sports. We shall be entering various sporting tournaments and I shall also be inviting guest coaches into school to enhance our sports and P.E. abilities.
I have been a TA for many years. I have 3 children. I enjoy sharing my passion for Arts and Crafts with the children. I love getting to know the children and their families. It still surprises me how intellectual, funny and kind the children can be. Together we learn, together we grow.
I joined Lucas Vale in September 2014 working within the Inclusion Team. As well as doing day to day attendance, I work closely with pupils and their families to develop, improve and maintain attendance and punctuality. I also work with pupils 1:1 or in groups to improve issues such as behaviour, self-esteem and wellbeing.
Most of you will see me out in the playground in the morning always smiling as I love the work I do here at Lucas Vale, particularly working with such fantastic pupils, their families and the staff here. I am also privileged to run the School Council here at Lucas Vale and oversee our participation in various charities such as Jeans for Genes Day, Children in Need and Red Nose Day, to name a few.
Being from Birmingham originally, it is so comforting to be in such a warm, loving school. It has such a family feel to it and being able to see children and our families step out of their comfort zone to achieve more is inspiring.
My journey into primary education started back in 2002 where I was a volunteer before being employed as a Teaching Assistant and later progressed onto HLTA. After refining and executing the specialties in teaching and learning to reach my goals, I decided to further my career by studying the Business of Education and Education Studies. I have always been curious as to how the business side worked.
The role of Office & Resources Manager at Lucas Vale has enabled me to learn the ins and outs of customer service, sometimes challenging but very rewarding. I oversee the office on a day-to-day basis, supporting parents/carers, children and staff with any queries that arise. Lucas Vale has always been a very diverse community that values the differences in people and I am proud to be a member of the GGLV Federation.
Working at the Grinling Gibbons and Lucas Vale Federation has been very enlightening. Having worked in a bank for many years, my role here is very different, but still very enjoyable. Whether it’s fixing a printer or laptop, showing a staff member how to use new software, updating assessment results or making sure the Schools’ website is up to date, my days are never boring and there is always something to learn. The staff here are very dedicated and the children are great characters.
Hi I’m Patrick, part of the premises team. I’ve worked across the GGLV Federation for nearly 3 years. Working at GGLV Federation I feel not only part of a family but part of the community.
I ensure that the schools are looking their best for the children so that they can enjoy their life at school happily & safely.
I have worked at Grinling Gibbons since May 2016. However, I have worked in premises management in various Lewisham schools for 8 years prior to then. I love working at the federation, facing different challenges each day. The entire school community is so welcoming and feels like a big family. All staff, governors, pupils and families pulling together to further the education & experience of the children who attend here.
As premises manager I have a direct responsibility for the safe, day-to-day running of the school premises and for the overall health and safety of the stakeholders. I have enjoyed transforming the school site and buildings in line with the vision of the school management, and look forward to continuing to do so!
