Computing

At Lucas Vale, our aim is to equip children with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to be not just users of technology, but creators of technology.

As of 2014, the new Computing curriculum was broken down in to three strands: Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy. Our children are taught the skills and knowledge for these three strands and display their learning purposefully, for example, during Application Focus Week. Computing is taught both discretely and through cross-curricular learning using our computer suite, laptops or iPads.

Here at Lucas Vale, we understand that computing has the ability to provide children the opportunity to demonstrate:

  • Perseverance/growth mind set
  • Computational thinking (analysing and planning a solution)
  • Team work
  • Communication skills
  • Creativity
