We are excited to welcome the children back to Year 1. We run an open door policy so please do not hesitate to come and speak to us if you have any questions or concerns.
Our overall topic for this term is ‘Our World’. During our English lessons we will looking at a variety of texts that are linked to animals including ‘We all went on Safari’, ‘Mr Wolf’s Pancakes’, The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and ‘The true story of the three little pigs’. We have started by looking at information texts about animals that live in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The children have been working hard learning lots of new vocabulary based on the animal’s appearance, habitat, diet and way of life. We will be moving on to instructional texts, persuasive letters, character description and newspaper reports.
