Greetings,
A warm welcome to The Phoenix Federation website – a window into the vibrant world of our learners. Here, you’ll find insights into the experiences, opportunities, and achievements that define the unique educational journey we provide for every child who attends our schools. From engaging classroom lessons to enriching extracurricular activities and field trips, we are committed to nurturing each pupil’s growth academically, socially, and emotionally.
As the Executive Headteacher of Grinling Gibbons, Grinling Gardens and Lucas Vale Primary Schools, I work closely with Mrs. Williamson-Smith, Deputy Headteacher of Grinling Gibbons, and Mrs. Twyford, Deputy Headteacher of Lucas Vale. Together, we lead the schools, ensuring policies and practices foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment. A key priority for me is building a welcoming school community where every child can thrive.
In collaboration with our Senior Leadership Team, staff, parents, and stakeholders, we develop initiatives that support student well-being and achievement. Beyond daily responsibilities, we focus on long-term strategic planning to ensure the federation schools adapt to meet the evolving needs of our pupils and wider community.
Since joining The Phoenix Federation in September 2015, no two days have been the same. Our schools are dynamic spaces filled with energy and creativity. I am continually inspired by the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our pupils, and the support of our close-knit community. It truly feels like a home away from home, and I am proud to be part of such a nurturing environment.
My journey within the Federation began as Head of School at Grinling Gibbons. In September 2023, I took on the role of Federation Headteacher, and in December 2024, I was promoted to Executive Headteacher. It is an honour to lead the federation of schools, oversee their curricula, and work toward shared goals that ensure high-quality education for every pupil.
Recent achievements showcase the remarkable dedication of our community. Both Lucas Vale and Grinling Gibbons Primary Schools were rated “Good” in their recent OFSTED inspections, with Grinling Gibbons receiving an “Outstanding” rating in Behaviour, Attitudes, and Personal Development. Furthermore, both schools earned accreditation under the Race and Conscious Equality Mark – Silver for Lucas Vale and Gold for Grinling Gibbons – highlighting our steadfast commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
At The Phoenix Federation, we believe education is not just about knowledge but about unlocking potential and cultivating a sense of belonging. The snapshots on our website reflect this ethos, and I invite you to explore them to see the wonderful opportunities we offer.
If you have questions or require additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are here to support you.
Warm regards,
Mr. Dean Gordon, NPQH
Executive Headteacher
